Notes / Further information

In 1908 director Morgenstern discovered a blue crystal in the mined ores of the copper mine Sadisdorf near Niederpöbel. Until 1926 8 crystals were known, 3 loose crystals and 5 on matrix. The kolbeckite sample was donated to the museum by the author F. Edelmann, Freiberg, in 1935. The mineral was named in honor of Friedrich Kolbeck (1860-1943), Professor of mineralogy at the "Bergakademie Freiberg".
