Notes / Further information

Sole specimen of this locality in the Werner Collection with a Werner label. The mineral was characterized by WERNER as "Kupfersamterz" in 1808. The name cyanotrichite was used by GLOCKER in 1839. According to HINTZE (1930) "Kupfersamterz" is preponderant fibrous malachite. For this reason the sample was studies by X-ray diffractometry. The result was a mixture of cyanotrichite and carbonate-cyanotrichite, not malachite. The samples 105613, 105615 and 105616 originate from the same locality and are catalogued in the catalogue of the WERNER Collection of 1823. Nevertheless, these specimen have no original labels.
